Put me down for a 7 Bob.

I did not get a chance to share this story, but I can’t resist. J.R. and I golfed together for the first time on Sunday, and half way through I asked him where he and his new bride attended church, and he said Grace Christian Church. I said, “Really, I go to Grace Community Church”, where is Grace Chirstian Church? He said, “Well the best part about it is that I can walk to church in the new house we bought.” I said, “Really, what Community did you buy in?” He said, “Kingsley”. I said, Well so do I, and you don’t go to Grace Christian Church you go to Grace Community Church where I go.” After a good laugh, JR set the record for shortest distance covered before picking up the ORB at Max score. MAYBE 100 yards. He later redeemed himself with a natural birdie on 18.

All that aside, it was nice to know an HC brother was going to be living so close.

My Sunday group did invent a new term we will be introducing at the HC next year. The “pre” fore. I’ll leave that one as wide open as I left “7 man”.

Ever notice how many folks at Grace don’t know each other……

On another note I was talking with Rich about the whole Bridgesttone SHAMBLE tournament win. I had to laugh out loud when he said to me, “it’s funny how it never crossed my mind to mention that fact”. With a straight face no less!

Once again, God showed up in a very powerful way, and also different from what any of us expected. I was talking with Ron “Mr. 36″ the other day, and he said one thing that is so cool is that he knows that he won’t see most of the guys from one year to the next, but when we come together, there is a certain special spirit of fellowship that binds us automatically.

It is something that we don’t have to necessarily work on because we have a common bond in Jesus and some knowledge of each others’ lives that gives us a good place to start.

Thanks once again for joining us for another weekend, you are truly a blessing!

I would like to give a special thanks to everyone that helped out this year, especially Guy. You are a tireless worker and very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your comment Bob,

When doing the things for the Heritage Classic I don’t feel like it is work or something that needs to be done. It is something that I enjoy every year, I really enjoy the weekend the most. Seeing guys having a good time laughing, crying, hugging each other and being transparent with their lives.

    One other thing
The other day I hit the ball long and straight 3 times.

  1. During the weekend we talked about the book, “The Shack”. Many of you have read it and others are just starting to read it. It would be great if everyone would share their thoughts on the book or how your view of God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost might have been changed, strengthened, or inspired by it. Please feel free to share your testimonies too!

  2. LOL Ron. I come to the HC every year to meet Grace people. Is there another way?

The lame attempt by my best friend to equate my satisfaction with playing well to his egregious ommission of the shamble is a confessional chair waiting to happen.
I knew I was onto something when the it raised the eybrows of The Pooh. I look forward to being able to share my dunking exploits in good faith from now on, even if it is on a nerf goal. I will just go to the, “it never crossed my mind to mention that” card. Despite that, we know that there would be no HC without Rich, and we all owe him thanks for the many hours he spends that none of us ever see or think about. Thank you my friend.

    Thats called softening the blow.

I’m still not sure why it is important whether the Bridgestone (only one “t”, Ron) event is a shamble format or not…I still won, beating 70 other golfers! At least I’ve never bragged about chipping in on a practice green like someone I know.

  3. Thank God I’ve never chipped in on any green, making that comment directed at someone else.
